Celebrating 5 Years of Marriage

Today is our 5 year wedding anniversary and I thought I’d share a few thoughts on our marriage up to this point: We are not perfect. (No kidding!) I might have thought we were both pretty close before we got married ūüėČ but marriage is a good way to reveal those hidden flaws. However, I would much rather have those things revealed so that the Lord can work on them! “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” (Proverbs {Read More}

Book Review: Love & Respect by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs

I recently had the opportunity (through BookSneeze.com) to review the book “Love & Respect” by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs, and coincidentally was also able to watch the 5 Disc Conference DVD set at the same time. My husband and I started reading the book together, but then found it much easier and less time-consuming to watch the DVDs. I finished reading the book on my own and found it interesting to then compare the book with the DVDs. First of all, {Read More}

Today was a day of mixed emotions, ups and downs, yet in the midst of the ordinary, it felt like a day to remember and treasure.  It felt like a day that should be recorded, with all the mundane details, that when joined together, form something that is, to me, uniquely beautiful. It is 4:54 am and once again my bladder has rudely awoken me from my slumber, demanding to be relieved.  As I awkwardly roll out of bed to go to the {Read More}

Love Boxes

So, I recently read about this idea for a “Love Jar” on Rachel Meier’s Blog, which she described like this… Here’s what it is: Couples individually write out an agreed upon number of “requests” or “ideas” that would make them feel loved or special. Put them somewhere (a jar perhaps?) and then once a week each spouse draws from the other spouses ideas and does it sometime that week.¬† This could require some restrictions like as to how much money {Read More}

Surprise Date Night!

On Saturday, Joe surprised me by planning a date night for just the two¬†of us!¬† He planned for my mom & sister to babysit Justice and then bought me these goodies… He got me a new mug, because he lost mine – haha – and then he filled it with milk to go with my chocolate covered almonds, which we then smuggled into the theatre where we watched a matinee of¬†“Prince Caspian”.¬† After that, we went out for supper to {Read More}

Day 29 of the Husband Encouragement Challenge

The 3o day Husband Encouragement Challenge is almost over… Personally, it has really challenged me to pay attention and have gratitude for all of the characteristics about Joe that I have come to admire and love about him.¬† I think we often take these for granted and don’t realize how many things our husbands do that bring joy and blessings to our homes.¬† It has also challenged me to set a guard over my mouth, watching more carefully the words {Read More}

Happy 3rd Anniversary!!

Our actual anniversary isn’t until January 22nd, but I had a whole day’s worth of activities planned to celebrate our 3rd anniversary, so we celebrated yesterday already!¬† ¬† Our day started off with Joe making us some wonderful pancakes for breakfast, after which I blindfolded him before taking him to our first activity of the day, which was a rousing game of BINGO! at the Club Regent Casino!¬† lol.¬† Neither of us had ever done this before, so we had {Read More}

Day 5 of the Husband Encouragement Challenge

Well, I’m not sure if anyone else took up the 30-day Husband Encouragement Challenge, but I’ve been following along with my cousin Tammy who has been posting the articles and prayer points each day (thanks Tammy!).¬† I haven’t been able to find the time to post every day, but I’ve been writing out my prayers for him each day and I think I will give it to him as a gift at the end of the 30 days.¬†¬†It’s also been {Read More}

30-Day Husband Encouragement Challenge

Yesterday, my cousin Tammy wrote on her blog that beginning January 1st, she will be participating in a 30-day Husband Encouragement Challenge (Written by Nancy Leigh DeMoss at www.ReviveOurHearts.com)¬†and then invited anyone who wanted to, to join with her!¬† I thought this sounded like a great idea, so I’ve decided to take up the challenge as well – but if you know my husband, don’t tell him – I want to see if he can notice a difference on his {Read More}

I love my husband!

So, I had been planning to prepare a romantic candlelit dinner for my husband tonight, just because I love him, when to my surprise, he came home early from work!¬† I was a little bummed out, because I had hoped to have everything ready for when he came home and now I wouldn’t be able to execute my plan!¬† Plus, I still had to finish working for the day.¬† When it came time for me to start preparing supper, I {Read More}
